Mr. Mark Schofield currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Virginia Railway Express (VRE), where he oversees the agency’s financial planning, budgeting, debt management, and long-term funding strategy. Prior to joining VRE in 2017, he held senior financial leadership roles at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, including Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and Senior Economic & Financial Advisor. His professional experience also includes transportation consulting with AECOM and service as an assistant professor at the Malaysia University of Science and Technology. Mark holds a Master of Science in Transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Wake Forest University.
