Explore AlexRenew's Community Spaces This Spring
Talk a walk through African American Heritage Park along Hooffs Run
AlexRenew completed work on Hooffs Run last year as part of the RiverRenew project to reduce combined sewer overflows in Alexandria. In addition to installing the Hooffs Run Interceptor to redirect wastewater overflows to our plant, we restored African American Heritage Park and enhanced the riparian buffer along Hooffs Run with native plants.
Bring your family to the Innovation District Pumping Station
A playground and native plant garden surround our newest pumping station, which channels wastewater to our treatment plant. Learn about our wastewater treatment process by following the interpretive signs along the side of the pumping station!
Enjoy panoramic views at the Pendleton Promenade
The Pendleton Promenade, completed last fall, is Alexandria's newest community waterfront space and offers expansive views of the Potomac River. Beneath the Promenade, RiverRenew infrastructure will channel combined sewer overflows to our treatment plant once the project is complete in 2026.
Take a coffee break in Alexandria's newest pocket park
The pocket park at the intersection of Daingerfield Road and Duke Street is part of the Hooffs Run Interceptor infrastructure. Our RiverRenew team completed construction of the park late last year, and will plant native plants this spring.
Play soccer on Limerick Field
Limerick Field, just behind our administrative offices on Limerick Street, sits on top of our Nutrient Management Facility (NMF). The NMF helps us treat wastewater more efficiently by managing flows through our treatment plant during the day. The City of Alexandria manages Limerick field, which is open sunrise to sunset.
