Alexandria Renew Enterprises (AlexRenew) announced today that it will hold a dedication for the AlexRenew Environmental Center Educational Lobby, a resource for the entire Alexandria community, on Tuesday, June 6 from 7:30 – 9 a.m.
The event will be held during Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week, celebrated the second week of June to raise awareness of the importance of the Chesapeake Bay to the Commonwealth, the region, and the United States. The Chesapeake Bay supports over 3,600 species of plants and animals and contributes more than $1 trillion to the region’s economy, according to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Blue Ribbon Finance Panel.
AlexRenew’s Educational Lobby features museum-quality exhibits that illustrate our community’s connection with local waterways, like the Chesapeake Bay. These interactive exhibits are designed to inspire visitors to conserve water and keep waterways clean and healthy.
The Environmental Center will host school groups and teachers, scout troops, adult learners, community organizations, and others who want to become better water stewards. The center’s sixth floor also has conference rooms available for community groups to use.
The dedication event will recognize exhibit and supporting sponsors as well as those who provided input on the Environmental Center lobby. The 12 sponsors that will be recognized include:
- Clark Construction Group, LLC
- Greeley and Hansen
- Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.
- Ulliman Schutte Construction
- McGuireWoods LLP
- Synagro Technologies, Inc.
- Rust | Orling Architecture
- Dutchland, Inc.
- Public Resources Management Group, Inc.
- Mobile Dredging & Video Pipe, Inc.
The dedication event will take place at the AlexRenew Environmental Center located at 1800 Limerick Street in Alexandria. Breakfast will be served and Karen Pallansch, AlexRenew CEO, will speak about the importance of the Chesapeake Bay and AlexRenew’s role in protecting this local treasure.
