When are water bills sent out?
Bills are sent out on a rotating quarterly basis for residential customers, and monthly for commercial customers.
Why did I receive an estimated bill?
On rare occasions, it may be necessary for your bill to be estimated. This could occur because of weather or some event that does not allow for an actual reading of the meter. The effect of the estimate is corrected in the next quarter when an actual reading occurs.
What are these other charges on my bill?
City of Alexandria Sewer Service Charge
These revenues go to the City of Alexandria for the maintenance of sewer lines in the City. The current rate is $1.25 per 1,000 gallons of water usage.
City of Alexandria City Utility Tax
These revenues go to the City of Alexandria. The residential customer rate is 15% of your monthly utility bill. The commercial and industrial customer rate is 15% of the first $150 of your monthly utility bill.
