AlexRenew is proud to offer a competitive salary and benefits package to its highly skilled workforce.  Highlights off our benefits include:

Eligibility (on first day of employment)

If you are an active employee regularly working at least 30 hours per week, you are eligible to enroll in most of the AlexRenew benefits listed in this summary.  Separate eligibility definitions will be noted if different. 

Medical

AlexRenew’s medical and prescription coverage is provided through United Healthcare, with a choice of three different plan options (HMO and POS).  Medical is a voluntary benefit, shared cost between AlexRenew and the employee.

Dental

AlexRenew’s dental plan is provided through MetLife.  You can enroll in the dental plan regardless of whether you enroll in the AlexRenew’s group medical plan.  Dental is a voluntary benefit, shared cost between AlexRenew and the employee. 

Vision

AlexRenew offers a separate comprehensive vision plan through Avesis.  You can enroll in the vision plan regardless of whether you enroll in AlexRenew’s group medical plan.  Vision is a voluntary, company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.

Premium Only Plan (Section 125)

Your medical, dental and vision payroll deductions are taken on a pre-tax basis (before your federal, state and social security taxes are calculated); saving additional tax dollars on each paycheck.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.

Employee Assistance Program

Services provided by Bensinger, DuPont and Associates (BDA), available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with confidential support, guidance and resources; assistance for you or an immediate household family member; in-person sessions for short-term problem resolution.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee. 

Wellness Benefits

All wellness benefits are company sponsored at no cost to the employee.

Fitness Membership to select Sport & Health athletic clubs, a one year membership, after the employee completes 90 days of continuous service.  Membership must be used at least a four times a month. 

Care24 Services offer you access to a wide range of health and well-being information, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.   

Health Discount Program with United Healthcare and provided by UnitedHealth Allies allows you to to save on wellness resources such as weight management from Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and other popular programs; nutrition counseling; fitness clubs including Anytime Fitness, Bally, Curves, Gold’s, MyGym and Snap Fitness; fitness equipment and apparel; natural products and foods; stress reduction and relaxation resources; smoking cessation programs.

Flu Shots will be provided to employees and benefit eligible family members, once per year per member.

Life and AD&D Insurance

Lincoln Financial Group is the provider for all the life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.  A benefit of one times your annual salary up to a maximum of $150,000 is provided to each eligible employee.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.

Dependent Life Insurance

Employees can elect to purchase dependent life insurance; benefit of $10,000 for their spouse and benefit of $2,000 for each eligible child up to age 19.  Dependent life insurance is a voluntary benefit, paid for 100% by employees. 

Voluntary Life Insurance – Employee

Employees can elect to purchase additional life insurance and AD&D, in increments of $10,000 not to exceed five times their annual salary to a maximum benefit of $300,000 with a guarantee issue of $100,000 for employees under age 70 at initial enrollment.  Elections over the guarantee issue, late entrants, or increase in benefit will require medical underwriting approval.

Voluntary Life Insurance – Spouse

Employees can elect to purchase additional life insurance and AD&D on their Spouse in increments of $5,000 not to exceed 50% of the benefit amount elected by the employee to a maximum of $150,000, guarantee issue of $50,000 at initial enrollment for spouses under age 60.  The cost is calculated the same as voluntary life insurance on the Employee except utilizing the Spouse’s date of birth.  Employees must have the voluntary life on themselves in order to purchase additional coverage for their spouse.

Voluntary Life Insurance – Child(ren)

Employees can elect to purchase additional dependent life insurance for their eligible children age six months to 19 years old in the increments of $2,500; $5,000; $7,500; and $10,000 benefits. 

Short Term Disability

Lincoln Financial Group is the provider for the program.  A benefit of 60% of weekly salary up to a maximum of $1,600 is provided to each eligible employee.  The benefit begins following a 7-day elimination period, duration maximum 13 weeks.  Employees may voluntarily elect to utilize 40% of their sick leave to make up the difference in their base salary.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.

Long Term Disability

Lincoln Financial Group is the provider for the program.  A benefit of 60% of monthly salary to a maximum of $7,000 is provided to each eligible employee.  The benefit begins following the disability date, a 90-day elimination period and duration maximum subject to age at disability.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.

Long Term Care Insurance

Genworth Financial is the provider for the program.   The insurance is not guaranteed, each employee is required to go through medical underwriting for approval.   The base benefit is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.  In addition, employees will have the ability to purchase additional benefit options for their individual plan or for their spouse.  Additional premiums will be paid by the employee through payroll deduction. 

Flexible Spending Accounts

PrimePay is the administrator for the program for Medical, Dependent Care and Transit accounts.  Medical – annual maximum contribution limit $3,000; Dependent Care – annual maximum contribution limit $5,000; Transportation Benefits – monthly maximum $125;        Qualified Parking Expenses – monthly maximum $240

 Retirement Plans

Virginia Retirement System

A defined benefit plan that provides a lifetime monthly benefit in retirement based on your age and total service credit.  Full-time employees hired before July 1, 2010 are covered under the provisions of VRS Plan 1 and full-time employees hired or rehired on or after July 1, 2010 are covered under the provisions of VRS Plan 2.  This is a company paid benefit at no cost to the employee.             

457(b) Savings Plan

ICMA-RC is our provider for the deferred compensation plan.  You may defer a maximum of $17,000 each year (2012) and an additional catch-up contribution of $5,500 if over age 50.  You reduce your current income taxes while investing for retirement.  Your earnings accumulate tax-deferred.  Employees are eligible to participate upon their date of hire. 

Credit Union

All employees are eligible for membership with Commonwealth One Federal Credit Union. 

Educational Assistance

Tuition reimbursement is available for classes pertinent to present position or employee development.  Courses must be judged to be job-related and pre-approved.  Reimbursement or payment for classes is contingent on the employee successfully passing the class. 

 Uniforms

AlexRenew pays for the full cost of uniforms for all the plant, hourly employees effective their date of hire.

 Cell Phone Discount

Verizon Wireless Employer Discount Program subscribers can receive an 8% discount for calling plans and 15% discount for accessories.   

Legal Services

Legal Resources provides discounted 25% or paid in full 100% legal services.   The plan covers employee, spouse and dependent children up to age 23, if full time student.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee. 

Computer Purchase Plan

Employees can purchase from select products through AlexRenew and pay for the computer through payroll deduction with no interest.  Eligible employees must complete 90 days of continuous service and receive a satisfactory or higher performance review.

Member discount marketplace, special offers and amazing discounts from hundreds of brand name retailers and local merchants with the SmartSavings member program sponsored by Motivano.  Online member program offers best deals and updated offers to help you stretch your hard-earned dollars.   

Travel Assistance

TravelConnect program includes travel, medical and safety-related services while traveling just 100 miles or more from home.  This is a company sponsored plan at no cost to the employee.   

Leave

Holidays

AlexRenew currently observes the following twelve (12) paid holidays:  New Year’s Day, Martin L. King’s Birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Presidential Inauguration (every fourth year).  Employees are eligible for paid holidays upon their date of hire.       

Annual Leave

Paid benefit granted to eligible employees for vacations and personal matters when approved in advance.  Leave is accrued on the first day of each month for the preceding month.  Eight hour employees accrue 8 hours of leave for each calendar month worked and twelve hour employees accrue 8.4 hours of leave for each calendar month worked.  Annual leave can be rolled over from year to year, maximum 384 hours.

Fiscal Bonus Leave

Employees that have completed one year of service at the time the new fiscal year (October 1st through September 30th) begins will accrue additional hours of annual leave based on each year they work.

Sick Leave

Paid benefit granted to eligible employees for a valid illness, injury or other disability.  Sick leave will not be used in calculating annual leave or holiday pay qualifications.  Leave is accrued on the first day of each month for the preceding month.  Eight hour employees accrue 8 hours of leave for each calendar month worked and twelve hour employees accrue 8.4 hours of leave for each calendar month worked.  Sick leave can be rolled over from year to year, maximum 288 hours. 

Bereavement Leave

Paid benefit granted to employees after the loss of an immediate family member up to three (3) days for the scheduled hours the day before, the day of and the day after the funeral.

Jury Duty/Witness Duty Leave

Paid benefit granted to employees who have been summoned to appear for jury duty or any employees except defendants in a criminal case, who are summoned or subpoenaed to appear in federal, state or local court.

Military Leave

Employees who are members of the active duty U.S. Armed Services and their Reserve components, as well as the Coast Guard, federal National Guard service and the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service or at any time the President of the United States has designated any category of persons as a “uniformed service” for purpose of USERRA.  Paid military leave will not exceed 15 calendar days in a fiscal leave year.

Administrative Leave

Benefit granted to cover unusual circumstances not provided for by other leave benefits.  The leave can be paid or unpaid depending on the circumstances and is solely at the discretion of management.

Leave without Pay

An unpaid absence may be granted for a variety of circumstances and lengths of time, approval is solely at the discretion of management and employees must have exhausted all annual leave before requesting leave without pay.

Personal Leaves of Absence

An unpaid leave for personal reasons that are not covered by disability insurance, workers compensation or are not subject to protected leave under the ADA, the FMLA, USERRA, Jury/Witness duty or other applicable leave laws.  An employee must have completed 12 months of continuous service prior to the start of the approved leave.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Eligible employees will receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave or up to 26 weeks for military caregivers during a 12-month period.  Employees must have worked at least 1,250 hours during the 12-month period immediately before the date when the leave is requested to commence.  Leave may be granted for the following circumstances, birth of child and to care for such newborn; placement of child into foster care; to care for spouse or child or parent of employee with a serious health condition; or where a serious health condition makes the employee unable to perform the functions of their job.
